The Ordea Cinema
In 1926, Yaakov Rosenblum submitted an application to the Ramat-Gan Moshav Committee to establish a silent film house. There were a lot of eyebrows raised, but he stuck to his dream. In March 1936, the cornerstone was laid for the cinema house at Kikar Rambam (Rambam Square) and it was opened in April 1937.
A dispute that broke out with Tel Aviv operator Mugrabi, who brought workers from Tel Aviv, led to the closure of the cinema for five months. This large, magnificent theatre, had about 800 seats, a theater, a balcony and a huge performance stage. The best movies from Israel and abroad were screened there. The movie theatre was closed down in 1990.
