Yeshurun Synagogue
The Yeshurun Synagogue was built in the style of European synagogues, in 1912, from the donation of Meir Genkin of Moscow. It was the first public building built in Gedera.
From the time the building was erected there were meetings of the community committee, it served as a building for public events and a school, and even served as a residence for the Gabbai and his family. During the First World War, in 1917, Jews who did not want to join the Turkish army were hiding in the roof of the building.
The building was renovated and expanded in 1954-1961, and since then it has served as the central synagogue in Gedera, and there are religious classes and cultural activities. Reconstruction and further renovations were done in 2004-2006.
