The old school
The building was built in 1896 in a style that was customary in the colony and was intended for the residence of the Baron’s clerk, Abraham Brill. The room at the front of the building was then a balcony, as in the other colony houses.
In 1905, the building began to serve as a school, with two classrooms and a kindergarten. During World War I, a Turkish officer and his company were housed there, and the basement of the building served as a prison. During the War of Independence, a front hospital was built for victims of the fighting in the area.
As the number of students increased, a large building was built to accommodate everyone. The old building is only used as a school office and teacher’s room.
