Agrobank neighborhood
The neighborhood is called "AgroBank" named after the Bank of Agriculture and Building for Eretz Israel Ltd. Its owners, Shabtai (Sephsel) Mirenburg and Shimon Yavetz invited architects Jacob Schiffman (Ben Sira) (1899-1944) and Joseph Rings (1878-1954) to design the neighborhood. The two were well acquainted with the principles of urban planning in general and the principles of international style ("the Bauhaus") in particular, and in the early 1930s, they designed a modern and unique residential neighborhood with infrastructure of wide roads and sidewalks. In their plan there was a neat division between the private and public lots. The western part of the neighborhood (on the streets of Shankar and Jabotinsky) was allocated a separate area for commerce, small crafts and industry. The founders of the neighborhood, was sure to connect homes to the water system, erection of street lights and planting dozens of ficus trees, beautifying the neighborhood streets today.
