בניין המוסדות הלאומיים הציוניים
בית זה היה בראשית שנות ה-30 מרכז המאבק של העם היהודי בדרכו להקמת המדינה.
כאן שכנו המוסדות הלאומיים שנשאו בעול המעשים של הכנת התשתית להקמת מדינת ישראל: ההסתדרות הציונית העולמית, הסוכנות היהודית לארץ ישראל, קרן היסוד וקרן קימת לישראל.
כן שכנו בו משרדי הוועד הלאומי - "כנסת ישראל".
כאן היה מרכז פעילותם של חיים וייצמן ודוד בן-גוריון.
החל מראשית שנות ה-40 פעלה מכאן מפקדת "ההגנה" בירושלים.
מקום זה ידע אירועים מסעירים: שביתת-הרעב של הנהגת היישוב בארץ-ישראל עם המעפילים לארץ; השתלטות הבריטים על הבניין ב"שבת השחורה" - 29.6.1946; פיצוץ מכונית תופת על ידי ערבים בחצר הקידמית שבה נספו 13 בני-אדם.
בט"ו בשבט - 14.2.1949 התכנסה כאן הכנסת לישיבתה הראשונה; ימיים לאחר מכן בחרה הכנסת בחיים וייצמן לנשיאה הראשון של מדינת ישראל.
אולם הישיבות שבו התנהלו דיוני הכנסת במשך מספר חודשים נקרא כיום "אולם חיים וייצמן".
כאן מושבם של המוסדות הלאומיים הציוניים: ההסתדרות הציונית העולמית, הסוכנות היהודית לארץ ישראל, קרן היסוד, קרן קימת לישראל והמגבית המאוחדת.
הבניין תוכנן בידי האדריכל יוחנן רטנר ב-1928 ובנייתו החלה ב-1929.

The Zionist National Institutions Building
This building was at the center of the Jewish people’s struggle for the establishment of the State beginning in the 1930s.
Lecated here were the national institulions engaged in preparing the infrastructure of the State of israel: the World Zionist Organization, the Jewish Agency for Eretz Israel, Keren Hayesod and Keren Kayemeth.
Here were the offices of Knessel Israel - the Vaad Leumi.
Located here were the headquarters of Chaim Weizmann and David Ben-Gurion.
Here is where the Haganah headquarters in Jerusalem operated during the forties.
This site experienced turbulent events, such as the hunger strike by the leadership of the Yishuv on behalf of the Ma’apilim - illegal immigrants; the "Black Sabbath" on June 29,1946, and the explosion of the car bomb placed by Arabs that killed 13 people.
Here, on the 15th of Shevat, corresponding to February 14. 1949, is where the First Knesset convened, and where two days later Chaim Weizmann was chosen to be the first president af the State of Israel.
The conference hall in which the Knesset convened for a number of months is today known as the Chaim Weizmann Hall.
Located here are the Zionist National Institutions: The World Zionist Organization, the Jewish Agency for Israel, Keren Hayesud, Keren Kayemeth and the fundraising campaigns on behalf of Israel.
The building was designed by architect Yohanan Ratner in 1928, and its construction commenced in 1929.
