יהושע שטמפפר
תרי"ב-תרס"ח 1852-1908

נולד בהונגריה. עלה לארץ ישראל בשנת 1870 והתיישב בירושלים. לאחר יסוד המושבה, יצא למסעות התרמה רבים ברחבי העולם למען גיוס כספים לטובת המושבה. יהושע שטמפפר השתתף בחפירת הבאר הראשונה שאף נקראה על שמו - "בירשוע". היה יושב ראש ועד המושבה עד סוף ימיו.

Yehoshua Stampfer
1852-1908

Born in Hungary. Immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1870 and settled in Jerusalem. After the foundation of the colony, he went around the world for many fundraisers to raise funds for the colony. Yehoshua Stampfer participated in the excavation of the first well to be named "Birshua." He was chairman of the colony for the rest of his life.
