The illegal immigration ship "Struma" carrying illegal immigrants who tried to escape from Romania was sunk by a Soviet submarine in the Black Sea in 1942

The monument, created by André Révész, was inaugurated in 1968 and shows a ship sinking in the sea.

Translation of the text on the sign:
This monument was erected in memory of the 801 illegal immigrants from Romania who were on their way to Israel on the ship "Struma" (with 10 crew members) sunk by the oppressors of our people in the waters of the Black Sea on February 24, 1942.
