המבנה הוקם על ידי הרוסים בשנת 1904 ונקרא על שם הדוכס סרגיי אלכסנדרוביץ, מייסד "האגודה הרוסית הפרבוסלאבית". תושבי נצרת כינו את המבנה "מוסקוביה" (מלשון מוסקבה).
המבנה הגדול שירת את עולי הרגל שבאו מרוסיה. הוא הכיל כאלף מקומות לינה, חדר אוכל, בית חולים, בית מרקחת ובית ספר.

أقام الروس هذا البناء عام ١٩٠٤ ، واطلقوا عليه اسم الدوق " سرجي الكسندروفيتش " مؤسس " الجمعية الروسية البربوسلافية أما أهل الناصرة فقد أطلقوا عليه اسم المسكوبية ( من كلمة موسكو ) . وفر هذا البناء الضخم خدمات جلى للحجاج الذين قدموا من روسيا ، فقد ضم اكثر من الف مكان للنوم ، وغرفة أكل ، ومستشفى وصيدليـة . كان في المكان مدرسة أيضاً .

This building was constructed in 1904 to serve the needs of Russian pilgrims. It was originally named for Prince Sergei Alexandrovich, founder of the Russian Orthodox Piligrims’ Society, but the local population nicknamed it "the Moskubiyeh" (from the word "Moscow"). It included sleeping accommodations for about one thousand people, a dining room, a hospital, a pharmacy, and a school.
