פסל הג’ירפה
רמב"ן 25 (על גג הקיוסק)

פסל הג’ירפה נעשה על ידי האמן הירושלמי אברהם יכין בשנת 1959 לכבוד חותנו ההולנדי, חסיד אומות העולם Jan Van Hulst שהציל במו ידיו עשרות יהודים.
יאן ואן הולסט היה כה גבוה, במיוחד בעיניה של אשתו, פולה הורוויץ, ושלושת בנותיהן, שקיבל מהן את שם החיבה "ג’ירפה".
כדי להדגיש את גובהו הגופני והרוחני של חותנו, העמיד אברהם יכין את הפסל על גג הקיוסק ברחוב רמב"ן שהיה שייך לאחיו עזרא יכין.

פרויקט זה בוצע ביוזמה של תושבי השכונה ומטרתו לספר סיפורים שכונתיים מנקודת מבט מקומית. הסיפורים לא מתיימרים להציג אמת היסטורית.

The Giraffe Statue
Ramban 25 (on the roof of the kiosk)

The giraffe sculpture was made by the Jerusalem artist Avraham Yachin in 1959 in honor of his Dutch father-in-law, Righteous Among the Nations Jan Van Hulst, who saved dozens of Jews with his own hands.
Jan van Holst was so tall, especially in the eyes of his wife, Paula Horowitz, and their three daughters, that he got the nickname "Giraffe" from them.
To emphasize the physical and spiritual height of his father-in-law, Avraham Yachin placed the statue on the roof of the kiosk on Ramban Street that belonged to his brother Ezra Yachin.
