ENTROU NA CAMRANHA DA CUERRA PENINSULAR, SOB O N:19 DE INFANTARIA, EM JANEIRO DE 1809 E REGRESSOU AO SEU QUARTEL NESTA VILA EM 30 D’AGOSTO DE 1814, CENTO E VINTE E UM ANOS AQUI ESTEVE PERMANENTEMENTE AQUARTELADO.

A sign on a house on the street of the 19th Infantry Regiment, describing the operations of the regiment.
This regiment of the Portuguese army was established in 1641, and participated in several wars including the War of the Pyrenees, a war of several countries (Spain, Great Britain, etc.) against France in an attempt to suppress the French Revolution (1793-1795).

STREET REGIMENT 19 OF INFANTRY

THE CASCAIS INFANTRY CAMPAIGN MADE THE ROUSSILLONE CATALONIA CAMPAIGN FROM 1793 TO 1795 AND DUE TO HIS HEROIC ACTION IN THIS CAMPAIGN THE FOLLOWING WORDS WERE ORDERED TO INSCRIBE ON HIS FLAG •
"TO THE VALUE OF THE CASCAIS REGIMENT"

IT ENTERED THE CAMRANHA DA CUERRA PENINSULAR, UNDER INFANTRY NO. 19, IN JANUARY 1809 AND RETURNED TO HIS QUARTER IN THIS VILLAGE ON AUGUST 30, 1814, HUNDRED AND TWENTY-ONE YEARS HERE IT WAS PERMANENTLY QUARTERED.
