אובליסק זה נבנה על-ידי הרפובליקה של תורכיה ועיריית באר-שבע
לזכרם ולכבודם של 298 חיילי הצבא התורכי אשר נפלו למען מולדתם בחזית באר-שבע במהלך מלחמת העולם הראשונה (1914-1918)

In the Battle of Beer Sheva, the British forces led by General Allenby fought against the Ottoman forces that controlled the city.
The British won this battle and transferred control of the city to them.

The monument was erected in 2002 on the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Beer Sheva in cooperation between the Municipality of Beer Sheva and the Turkish government.

CONSTRUCTED ON 21 TH OCTOBER 2002 BY THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY AND BEER SHEVA MUNICIPALITY IN MEMORY OF 298 HONORABLR TURKISH ARMY SOLDIERS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES WHILE SERVING THE TURKISH STATE AT THE BEER SHEVA FRONT BETWEEN 1914-1918
