About the tag

Sculptor, Landscape architect

Born in Berlin, Germany (1916-1977), immigrated to Israel in 1923. An Israeli sculptor, one of the ancestors of the Canaanite sculptural style. Winner of the Israel Prize for Sculpture (1968) and the Dizengoff Prize for the Art of Painting and Sculpture (1945-1946). Danziger was a member of the "New Horizons" group that worked in the first decade of the State of Israel with the aim of combining international art with local art.

One of the important projects in which Danziger’s Landscape architecture was expressed was the restoration of the Nesher quarry in Carmel. In it, Danziger combined with an ecologist and a soil researcher tried to repair the damage they had done to the landscape of the mining works at the quarry.

The sculpture "Akalaton" (serpentine) located in the Yarkon Park is one of the few outdoor sculptures created by Danziger, since the sculpture is not accompanied by a sign, it does not appear in the list of signs on this site
