A sign marking the "Expedition of the Thousand" by Giuseppe Garibaldi, who arrived on March 11, 1860 in Marcella-Sicily. In this voyage, Garibaldi was joined by 1000 red-shirted men who, after landing in Marsala, conquered Palermo and thence southern Italy.

The sign is located in Porta Garibaldi one of the gates of the city known for passing through Garibaldi on the Expedition of the Thousand
