Hatchery
The first hatchery was operated in Kfar Menachem on December 19, 1944. It was a local home incubator. On July 2, 1954, before the building was completed, the kibbutz’s independent hatcheries were activated for the first time. In the first years, the hatchery was used for internal purposes only and was therefore established near the fattening henhouse, (Peck henhouse). Over the years, the activity expanded and the kibbutz began marketing chicks to other breeders. The hatchery reached its peak of activity in the late 1980s.
In the early 2000s, due to the entry of private parties into the field and the formation of regional organizations, it was difficult for the kibbutz to continue to integrate into the market. In an attempt to continue the activity of the hatchery, the hatchery was rented to an external party and it was later decided to close it. Since it closed, the hatchery has been used as a hostel for small business owners, warehouses, etc ...
