שריונית זחלית בריטית נושאת מקלע "ברן" יוצרה בבריטניה וקנדה החל משנות ה-30. צבא מצרים הפעיל כ-100 נושאות ברן נגד צה"ל במלחמת העצמאות בנגב ובצפון חצי האי סיני. אלה נרכשו מבריטניה לאחר מלחמת העולם השנייה. רבים מכלים אלה נלקחו שלל ע"י צה"ל והופעלו בחזית הדרום ע"י חטיבת גבעתי ולוחמי סיירת "שועל שמשון".

The Universal Carrier, manufactured in the early 1930’s in Great Britain and Canada, is a small armored vehicle bearing a Bren machine gun. During Israel’s War of Independence, the Egyptian Army operated some 100 Bren Carriers against the IDF in the Negev and in the northern Sinai Peninsula. These vehicles were purchased from Great Britain following World War II. Many of them were captured by the IDF and used in the southern front by the Givati Brigade and the ’Samson’s Foxes’ commando unit.
