טנק מערכה בינוני שיוצר בברית המועצות, צ’כוסלובקיה ופולין במהלך מלחמת העולם השנייה ולאחריה בהיקף של 65,000 טנקים. הכלי שימש כטנק מערכה עיקרי בשריון הסובייטי לאורך המלחמה. הוא פותח בסוף שנות השלושים כטנק בעל תותח 76 מ"מ וארבעה אנשי צוות. במהלך המלחמה התותח שודרג ל-85 מ"מ ונוסף לו איש צוות חמישי. הטנק היה אחד הטנקים הנפוצים ביותר בהיסטוריה. כלים מסוג זה נמכרו למדינות רבות בעולם ונותרו בשירות פעיל עד תחילת שנות ה-90.

This is a medium tank, produced by the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia and Poland during and after World War II. Some 65,000 such tanks were built. The vehicle served as a main battle tank (MBT) in the Soviet armored forces throughout that war. It was developed in the late 1930’s as a tank with a 76 mm gun and four crew members. In the course of the war it was upgraded to a 85 mm gun and a fifth crew member was added. This was to become one of the most prevalent tanks in history. These vehicles were sold to many countries around the world and remained in active service until the early 1990’s.
