The M-50 Sherman Self-Propelled Gun (SPG) was developed by the IDF Ordnance Corps based on the hull of the U.S. Sherman tank and a French 155 mm gun. This SPG participated in the Six Day War, the War of Attrition and the Yom Kippur War. In the course of its service, the vehicle was upgraded to include an improved suspension with wider tracks and a Diesel engine. The M-50 SPGs retired from service in the mid 1980’s.
