A sign in the series of signs in Madrid, made of clay and depicting in an illustration one of the elements of the street
Legend has it that during a debate between Margaret of Austria, Queen of Spain, and the mayor of Madrid, the archbishop of Santo Domingo, and two other attendees regarding the expansion of a monastery at the expense of houses belonging to the latter, the queen picked up four carnations and gave them to each of those present, thus obliging them to expand the monastery. The carnations appear on the sign.
The sign was painted by Alfredo Ruiz de Luna Gonzalez
