On the sign:

A series of signs placed in 2025 on one of the banks of the Yarkon River, featuring cultural figures, some of whom are still alive, dressed in the uniforms of the football teams they supported. The current sign shows Meir Ariel in the uniform of the Hapoel Tel Aviv team, at a time when the sponsor was Diadora.

Translation of the text on the sign:

Meir Ariel (1942-1999)
Hapoel Tel Aviv, 1989/90

Born in Kibbutz Mishmarot. A member of a family from the founding generation of the kibbutz. An Israeli poet, songwriter, composer, guitarist and singer, he created many songs and hymns that are ironclad assets in Israeli music and culture.

Hapoel Tel Aviv spent 1989 in the national league (the second league at the time). That same year, Meir Ariel recorded "We Passed the Pharaoh", one of his most recognizable and recognizable hits. Meir often testified to his friends about his love for soccer in general and for Hapoel Tel Aviv in particular, and it is difficult not to think about the connection between the song and the season that the club had spent.
