A series of signs placed in 2025 on one of the banks of the Yarkon River, featuring cultural figures, some of whom are still alive, dressed in the uniforms of the football teams they supported. The project was created by Tal Shetach, an illustrator who was himself a football player
Click for sign's details On the current sign, Yehoram Gaon is wearing the uniform of the Maccabi Jaffa football team (in this case, Yehoram Gaon is likely not actually a fan of the team, but rather the character he played in Kazablan)
Translation of the text on the sign:
Yehoram Gaon (b. 1939) as Yosef Siman Tov, "Casablanca"
Maccabi Jaffa, 1973
Born in Jerusalem. The eldest son of a father born in Sarajevo, a descendant of those deported from Spain. Actor and singer, winner of the 2004 Israel Prize in the field of Hebrew singing, and the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award.
He began his musical career in the Nahal Ensemble, and continued on to a long career that included membership in the "HaTarnegolim" Ensemble and the "Gesher Hayarkon Trio", and unforgettable performances in theater and cinema. As a soloist, he is responsible for many songs that are considered ironclad assets in Israeli music and culture.
In 1966, he was cast as Yosef Siman Tov, aka Kaza, in the musical "Kazabalan", written by Menachem Golan and Haim Hefer. The films plot takes place in Jaffa in the 1950s. At its center is the ethnic divide as it is expressed in a mixed neighborhood that is about to be evacuated due to urban renewal. In 1973, the musical was adapted into a film, and was a huge success.
