יליד תל אביב. גדל בשכונת שבזי. חתן פרס ישראל 2022 בתחום הזמר העברי, ופרס שר החינוך לתרבות יהודית בתחום המוזיקה לשנת 2016 על פועלו לקידום התרבות הישראלית. התגייס לצה"ל ב-1967, במלחמת יום הכיפורים לחם כחייל מילואים בחיל התותחנים.

מחלוצי הזמר והפזמונים הים תיכוניים. החל לכתוב שירים בתחילת שנות השבעים, ועשור לאחר מכן החל קריירה אישית כזמר. אחראי בין היתר על הלהיטים "שבחי ירושלים". "כינור דוד", "רעיה", "לבד יושבת", "כבר עברו השנים" ועוד.

בשנת 1982 שירו "הפרח בגני" בביצוע זוהר ארגוב זוכה בפסטיבל הזמר המזרחי. זהו השיר הראשון שסולל את הדרך של המוזיקה הים תיכונית אל לב הקהל ולמרכז הבמה והתרבות הישראלית.

A series of signs placed in 2025 on one of the banks of the Yarkon River, featuring cultural figures, some of whom are still alive, dressed in the uniforms of the football teams they supported. Avihu Medina (b. (1948)
Israeli national team, 1982

Born in Tel Aviv. Raised in the Shabazi neighborhood. Winner of the 2022 Israel Prize in the field of Hebrew singing, and the Minister of Education’s Award for Jewish Culture in the field of music for 2016 for his work in promoting Israeli culture. He enlisted in the IDF in 1967, and during the Yom Kippur War he served as a reserve soldier in the artillery corps.

One of the pioneers of Mediterranean singing and hymns. He began writing songs in the early 1970s, and a decade later began a personal career as a singer. He is responsible, among other things, for the hits "Praise Jerusalem." "Kinor of David," "Raya," "Levad Yoshevet," "Kvar Avru HaShanin" and more.

In 1982, the song "HaPerach Begani" performed by Zohar Argov won the Mizrahi Song Festival. This is the first song that paved the way for Mediterranean music to the hearts of the audience And to the center of Israeli stage and culture.
