יליד תל אביב. בן למשפחה יוצאת עיראק. היה פעיל בתנועת הנוער של הגדנ"ע, ולחם במלחמת העצמאות בחטיבת גבעתי.

החל את דרכו כספורטאי. בשנת 1946, כשהיה בן 20, זכה באליפות ארץ ישראל לריצת 1500 מטרים. בתחילת שנות החמישים עבר להתגורר בלונדון כדי ללמוד הנדסה. הוא ייצג את המשלחת האנגלית במכבייה, וזיכה אותה במדליות. באותה תקופה אף נמנה עם שדרני השידור העברי של ה-BBC, וב-1952 נשלח לסקר את האולימפיאדה בהלסינקי.

Nissim Kiviti (1925-2024)
Israeli national team, 1989/90

Born in Tel Aviv. Son of a family of Iraqi immigrants. He was active in the youth movement of the Gadna, and fought in the War of Independence in the Givati ​​Brigade.

He began his career as an athlete. In 1946, when he was 20, he won the Israel Championship in the 1500-meter run. In the early 1950s, he moved to London to study engineering. He represented the English delegation in the Maccabiah, winning medals. During that time, he was also one of the broadcasters for the BBC’s Hebrew broadcast, and in 1952 he was sent to cover the Olympics in Helsinki.

He began his career as a broadcaster in 1972 at the Munich Olympics, and since then he has been an integral part of Israeli sports culture. His iconic voice accompanied us all until his retirement in 1991. One of the most memorable moments he broadcast was during the 1990 World Cup qualifiers when Eli Ohana scored the winning goal against Australia, securing Israel a place in the playoffs. Against the Colombian national team. This goal was later chosen as the most important in the history of Israeli football.
