Translation of the text on the sign:

Daklon (Yosef Levi) (b. 1944)
Shimshon Tel Aviv, 1982

Born in Tel Aviv. Raised in Kerem HaTyemaniim. Winner of the 2023 Israel Prize in the field of Hebrew singing. He began his musical career at the age of 6, when he performed the Shabbat song for Kol Israel Radio.

The talented musician, who combined folk melodies, Yemenite flourishes, Hebrew texts and styles associated with Ashkenazi Judaism in his music, penetrated deep into the heart of the consensus, and was one of the pioneers of the Mediterranean singing revolution of the 1980s.

1982 was a record year for Shimshon Tel Aviv as the runner-up (to Maccabi Netanya), and the flourishing of Mediterranean music in Kerem went hand in hand with the success of the Shimshon. Every Saturday night after the game, tens of thousands would gather in Kerem, and celebrate with the players and singers until the wee hours of the night.
