Kiryat Motzkin Settlement (Kurdani B)
The Asbestos Neighborhood

The Kiryat Motzkin Settlement was established in 1959 and its last residents left in 1976. At its peak, the settlement covered an area of approximately 114 dunams, along the railroad tracks, in the area between Yosef Levi Street and the current Hay-Park area, and included approximately 300 huts. As of 2022, Asbestos 84A was still used for housing. Those who grew up in the transit camp as children testify that it was a life of simplicity, mutual openness, harmony and cooperation between immigrants from all over the world, regardless of their country of origin: Morocco, Romania, Poland, Egypt, Hungary, Turkey, Persia, Germany, India, Algeria, Uruguay, China, Brazil, Bulgaria and others, and defined the atmosphere as "a melting pot that brought to the country many loyal citizens and good people".
