THE BRITISH HEBREW SOLDIERS’ CLUB
The club, built adjacent to the water tower, was inaugurated in 1943, for use by Allied soldiers. Until, 1948, it served as a movie house and as a venue for events to which the soldiers could invite local residents. British Hebrew Soldier’s Club
The club, built near the water tower, was inaugurated in 1943 as a club for soldiers of the "Allied" army, named after Colonel Martin and Captain Lewis Shapira, in recognition of their activities and for the welfare of the soldiers. Until 1948, the club served the soldiers, as a cinema and for events to which local civilians were also allowed to be invited.
After 1948, the hall served the residents of the community as a cultural club: lectures, performances, parties, weddings and holidays, such as a joint Passover Seder for soldiers and residents, or as a synagogue on the "High Holidays".
From 2005 to 1954, it served as the sports hall of the "Lewinhertz" High School and the "Alonim" Elementary School.
Today, it is an extension of the "Beit Grushkevice" Historical Museum.
