Avner Gadassi (b. 1952)
Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv, 1981
Born in Tel Aviv. Raised in the Hatikva neighborhood. Winner of the Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement from the AMI in 2024 and the Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement from the Ministry of Culture in 2018.
1981 was a formative year for both Bnei Yehuda, the team from the Hatikva neighborhood, and for Avner Gadassi, a native of the neighborhood. Bnei Yehuda won the State Cup for the second time in thirteen years, and Gadassi released his fourth album "Menagen Veshar", which included the song "Menagen Veshar", which earned him second place at the Mizrahi Singer Festival in December 1980.
"Menagen Veshar" paved Gadassis path to the heart of the Israeli mainstream, and since that year he has been responsible for many hits, including "Sharona", "Yom Rodef Yom", "Naara Mesphard", "Aineya Karao Li", "Friday", "Hagvarimen Bochim Bailala" and more. Gadassi was a full partner in the creation of his friend Zohar Argov, and even composed the theme song for Zohars second album "Tharon For today".
