Translation of the text on the sign: This square was named after the famous silversmith’s shop, which was established there under the patronage of Charles III in 1792.
The building, designed by architect Carlos Vargas, had a facade and portico with Doric columns topped by a Minerva sculpture group honoring the noble arts.
