Translation of the text on the sign:
Our Father, our King, act for the sake of those who entered fire and water for the sanctification of Your Name.
These are the names of the victims of the immigrant ship Mafkura,
which was sunk by enemies of our people (may their name be blotted out)
in the waters of the Black Sea on its way from Constanța to the Land of Israel.
On board were dozens of children, orphans from Transnistria and refugee survivors from across Nazi-occupied Europe.
On the holy Sabbath night of Parashat Va’etchanan – “Nachamu,” the 16th of Av 5704 (August 5, 1944).

[Names of the perished]

Plaque design and execution:
Memorial to Romanian Jewry,
donated by A.M.I.R. – United Organization of Romanian Immigrants.
