Comments:
The sign is located in the Memorial Garden where many events are commemorated

The sign commemorates the Battle of the Elbe River, where Allied forces met Soviet forces near the town of Torgau, Germany. The battle, which was part of the Battle of Berlin, had symbolic significance as it split Nazi-controlled territory in Germany in two, and in many ways marked the end of World War II in Europe.
