בית החולים הראשון בית החולים הוקם ע"י ההגנה בשנת 1948 בסגנון בינלאומי מאוחר בעיצומה של מלחמת העצמאות וכונה "בית חולים צבאי מס’ 3". בעת המצור על נהריה שגרם לניתוק יבשתי הגיעו הרופאים על ציודם לנהריה בדרך הים באמצעות סירת "המעונה". בתום המלחמה הגיע ראש המועצה דאז מר גרשון טץ להסדר עם צה"ל ובית החולים הועבר לאחריות המועצה. המנהל הראשון של ביה"ח היה ד"ר נתן וייל ומשנת 1957 ניהל אותו ד"ר אדמונד ויינפלד. בשנת 1958 הוסב בית החולים לבית יולדות בצירוף מחלקה כירורגית בהנהלת ד"ר הארי פולק. בית החולים נסגר סופית בשנת 1960.

THE FIRST HOSPITAL Military Hospital #3 was built in 1948 in the late international style by the HAGANAH during the Independence War. During the siege on Nahariya it was reached by sea. It was turned over to the municipality after the war. In 1958 it became a maternity facility until its closure in 1960.
The sign shape is rectangular but its head is designed according to the silhouette of the old building of the Gymnasia Herzliya, which serves as a logo of the Council for the Preservation of Heritage Sites in Israel
