נים, צרפת
נים הינה עיר עתיקה בדרום צרפת הממוקמת בציר המרכזי המחבר את איטליה וספרד ומהווה עיר בירה למחוז לגארד. נים נקראת "העיר עם הדגש" – דגש רומי מובהק, דגש על הלשון, הירושה, המסורת, התרבות ועל האופי העקשן והמחושל של אנשיה.
העיר נמצאת במקום בו נפגשים העבר והעתיד - דבר המהווה חלק חשוב באופיה של העיר. דעה רווחת כי העיר קיבלה את שמה מהאל הקלטי נימוסוס ששמר על המעיין שסיפק מים לכל הישוב.
הסמל והמגן של העיר נים, תנין הכבול בשרשראות לעץ דקל, עם הכתובת " Colnem" הינה איזכור למושבה של ליגיונרים וטרנים רומיים משנות ה- 50 לפנה"ס, שקיבלו אדמות לעיבוד למרגלות גבעותיה של נים. באמצע המאה ה- 17, החלה תקופת השגשוג: האוכלוסייה גדלה, שופצו שכונות העוני, היצור והתעשייה התחזקו. נים מהווה אטרקציה בשל האתרים הרומיים הרבים שבשטחה ובעיקר בשל מלחמות השוורים הנערכות בזירה הרומית המושכת אליה למעלה ממיליון תיירים מדי שנה.
בנים יש קהילה יהודית קטנה, אך פעילה מאוד.

Nimes, is a City in the south of France, capital of Le Gard district located on the Via Domitia, a Roman road connecting Italy to Spain and is called "the City with an emphasis" - which is definitely Roman. An emphasis on the language, the patrimony, the tradition, the culture.
The town is always at the point where the past meets the future - which is an essential part of Nimes’ character.
As modern sources suggest, the city’s name certainly derived its name from Nemausus, the local Celtic spirit guardian of the spring that originally provided all water for the settlement.
The contemporary symbol and shield of the city of Nimes, a crocodile chained to a palm tree with the inscription ’Colnem" or a short version of ’Colonia Nemausus", is a reference to the colony of Roman legions veterans in Ceasar’s Nile campaigns (50 BC). At the end of fifteen years of soldiering, the veterans were given plots of land to cultivate on the plains of Nimes.
In the mid 17th century, Nimes experienced a period of prosperity: population growth caused the town to expand, slum housing was replaced by reconstruction, strengthening of manufacturing and industrial vocation.
Nimes, (Nemausus) is very attractive thanks to it’s Roman antiquities, among them the arena which draws over a million people a year for the bullfights.
Nimes enjoys a small, but very active Jewish Community.

In the park, there are plots for the Sister cities of the city of Rishon Lezion, with a plot depicting the Sister city in each plot, and a display corresponding to the city.
