Napoleon III (Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte) (1808-1873) nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte, was President of the French Republic in 1848 and later crowned himself Emperor.
In 1846 he fled to England after escaping from prison where he was sentenced to life imprisonment (this was before he became President of the Republic)
