The Stone Bridge is the oldest bridge in Verona. The bridge over the Adige River was probably built in the 1st century BC. During World War II, the bridge was bombed by the retreating Germans, but between 1957 and 1959 the bridge was rebuilt with original stones taken from the riverbed.
