נולד בעיר צ’רנוביץ בבוקובינה שהיתה תחת שליטת רומניה ביולי 1960, בהיותו בן 18 עלה עם משפחתו לארץ ישראל. המשפחה התיישבה בגבעתיים

משה שירת בצה"ל בחיל השיריון ובשנת 1975 נישא לשושנה פרסלר

משה עבד במפעל מתכת, לאחר מכן מונה למזכיר ההיסתדרות בגבעתיים ובשנת 1978 מונה לסגן ראש עיריית גבעתיים וכיהן בתפקיד עד לפרישתו ממועצת העיר בשנת 1993

בשנת 1996 נבחר משה לראש המועצה המקומית בעיר מודיעין כראש מועצה מכהן. בשנת 1998 נערכו הבחירות הראשונות בעיר מודיעין בהן נבחר משה שכטר לכהונה נוספת כראש המועצה המקומית.

Moshe Shechter
1934–2015

He was born in the city of Chernivtsi in Bukovina, which at the time was under Romanian rule. In July 1960, at the age of 18, he immigrated with his family to the Land of Israel. The family settled in Giv’atayim.

Moshe served in the Israel Defense Forces in the Armored Corps, and in 1975 he married Shoshana Pressler.

Moshe worked in a metal factory, and later was appointed Secretary of the Histadrut in Giv’atayim. In 1978 he was appointed Deputy Mayor of Giv’atayim and served in this role until his retirement from the City Council in 1993.

In 1996, Moshe was elected Head of the Local Council in the city of Modi’in as a serving council head. In 1998, the first elections were held in the city of Modi’in, in which Moshe Shechter was elected once again as Head of the Local Council.
