Here, on the road out of Jaffa toward Jerusalem, Khan Manoli operated in the late 19th century. The khan (inn) served residents of Jewish villages who came to visit Jaffa or stopped in the city to rest up. Shah Manolian, an Armenian aide to the Austrian Consul in Jerusalem, initiated the construction of the khan and gave it its name. Rebecca and Israel Cohen of Jaffa purchased the khan in 1889.

The trail describes the journey of pilgrims to the Land of Israel from the 18th century - from the port of Jaffa to the various points they passed along the way.

At the current station appears the Manuli Khan, a guesthouse established in the 1860s, intended to serve as a transit station for travelers passing through Jaffa. The place also became a social meeting point.

The khan was photographed on the same day Click for a larger image.
