The Küçük Hasan (Small Hasan) Mosque or «Yalı» Camii (Seafront Mosque) with marked Arabic features, was built by the Ottomans in 1649, in honour of Küçük Hasan, first garrison commander of Chania. It ceased operation in 1923 and its minaret was demolished in 1936. From 1930 to 1960 it housed the Chania Archaeological Museum It is now used as an art and culture venue.
