The Pioneer House was established here in 1920. The house, run by the Zionist Committee of Delegates, provided Jewish immigrants to Eretz Israel with reception services, overnight accommodations, food, and medical care. On May 1, 1921, the house was attacked by rioters and many of its tenants were killed or injured. It was abandoned and a new Immigrants’ House on Ha’aliya Street was established in its stead. The sign is rectangular, with a circle at the top containing the name of the trail and an image representing the current stop. In the current circle appear the figures of Duba and Yehuda Cherkassky, directors of Beit HaHalutz, who were killed in the riots Click for a larger image.
The trail describes the journey of pilgrims to the Land of Israel from the 18th century - from the port of Jaffa to the various points they passed along the way.
The current station depicts Beit HaHalutz, where pioneers of the Third Aliyah lived upon their arrival in the Land of Israel. During the riots of 1921, 14 pioneers were killed there, including the directors of the place.
