O Museu do Mar Rei D. Carlos está sedeado no edifício do antigo Sporting Club de Cascais, fundado em 1879 pelo então Príncipe Carlos. Durante várias décadas do século XX, este edifício, também conhecido como Clube da Parada, acolheu vários eventos sociais e foi proeminente como um clube de lazer e entretenimento. Criado por decisão da Câmara Municipal de Cascais na sequência da cedência das instalações da Parada, em 1976, foi formalmente inaugurado como Museu do Mar em 1992, no dia 7 de Junho. Mais tarde, em 1997, passou a designar-se Museu do Mar Rei D. Carlos, no que constituiu o reconhecimento de um homem que amouomare que, através da ação nele desenvolvida, contribuiu para promover, em termos nacionais e internacionais, o território de Cascais.

Principais Coleções: História Natural, Etnografia Marítima, Arqueologia Subaquática, Malacologia, Marinharia e Navegação.

The King D. Carlos Sea Museum is located in the former Sporting Club of Cascais, founded in 1879 by Prince Carlos later King D. Carlos. During several decades of the XXth century, this building, also known as Clube da Parada, hosted several social events and was prominent as a club of leisure and entertainment. With the transfer of the Parada grounds in 1976 to the Municipality of Cascais, the Sea Museum was formally inaugurated on June 7th, 1992. Later, in 1997, it became known as the King D. Carlos Sea Museum, in recognition of a man who loved the sea and through it, contributed nationally and internationally to promote the territory of Cascais.

Main Collections: Natural History, Maritime Ethnography, Underwater Archeology, Malacology, Seafaring and Navigation.
