בית הנגבי – המושל הצבאי
ביתו של סגן אלוף מיכאל הנגבי מקיבוץ נגבה, המושל הצבאי של באר-שבע לאחר שחרורה במלחמת העצמאות. הנגבי שימש כמושל האוכלוסייה האזרחית הראשונה בעיר שהורכבה בעיקרה מחיילים משוחררים ועולים חדשים, עד להעברת ראשות העיר לידי דוד טוביהו ראש העיר הראשון של באר-שבע בשנת 1950. "בחלומותי הנועזים ביותר לא יכולתי לחשוב שבאר-שבע תהיה עיר כה גדולה בעלת עתיד כה מזהיר" אמר הנגבי. עד לשחרורו מצה"ל בשנת 1952, שימש כנציג בוועדות שביתת הנשק עם מצרים. אחר כך עמד בראש ’האגודה למען החייל’ בבאר-שבע שהקימה את בית החייל החדש בעיר. על פועלו זכה לתואר ’יקיר באר–שבע’.

Hanegbi House - Home of the First Israeli Military Governor
From Be’er-Sheva’s liberation in the Independence War until 1950 – when David Tuviyahu became first Mayor - Lt. Col. Michael Hanegbi, from Kibbutz Negbah, was Military Governor, largely governing demobilized soldiers and olim. "Even in my wildest dreams, I couldn’t imagine Be’er-Sheva would become such a large city with such a bright future" said Hanegbi.
Until his IDF discharge in 1952, Hanegbi was delegate to Armistice Committees with Egypt, and headed ’Be’er-Sheva’s Soldiers Wellbeing Association’, establishing the city’s new Soldiers’ House. His endeavors earned him the ’Distinguished Citizen of Be’er-Sheva’ award.
