בית השיח’ פריח אבן-מדין - ’בית ההסתדרות’
העיר העתיקה בבאר-שבע הוקמה בשנת 1900 בידי השלטון העות’מאני כעיר מחוז מרכזית ומצויים בה מבנים ייחודיים וחשובים. בית השיח’ פריח אבו–מדין הוקם כבית ראש העיר הבדווי השני, משבט החנג’ארה. בזמן מלחמת העולם הראשונה סייע השיח’ פריח אבו-מדין לבריטים כמורה דרך במדבר בקרב על באר-שבע וזכה מידיהם לכבוד ולעיטור צבאי. בראשית שנות העשרים מונה לראשות העיר וייצג את הבדווים בפני השלטונות.
המבנה שימש בשנות החמישים בבית ההסתדרות הכללית של העובדים העבריים בארץ. בעיר פעלו מטעם ההסתדרות: לשכת העבודה, קופת חולים, המרכז לתרבות וחינוך, ’סולל בונה’, ’חרות’, ’תנובה’, בנק הפועלים והקואופרטיבים לתחבורה.

Sheikh Farikh Abu-Madin’s Residence - ’Histadrut House’
Home of Be’er-Sheva’s second Bedouin mayor, Sheikh Abu-Madin of the Hanjara tribe was appointed in the early 1920’s as Bedouin liaison to the authorities. During the WWI battle over Be’er-Sheva, the Sheikh had been a desert guide for the British, for which he received military honors.
In the 1950’s, the building housed the Histadrut Labor Union of Hebrew Workers in Israel. In Be’er-Sheva the Histadrut operated an employment agency, HMO, center for education and culture, ’Solel Boneh Construction Co., ’Herut’ Machine Plant, ’Tnuva’ Dairy Co., Hapoalim Bank and transportation cooperatives.
