קפה פידלר

המבנה המעוצב בסגנון הבינלאומי, נבנה כבית קפה בשנת 1932 על ידי דוד לוונברג לבקשת אשתו לאה. דוד היה בנו של אחד מפקידי הברון שהתגורר במושבה ראש פינה, אולם דוד העדיף את המישור על פני ההר והתיישב בשרון. בשל קשריו עם תושבי הכפר הערבי הסמוך לכפר סבא מונה לימים על ידי הממשל הבריטי לאחד משלושת המוכתרים של המושבה.
הזוג דוד ולאה לא התמידו בניהול בית הקפה. וזמן קצר לאחר פתיחתו השכירו את המקום לצבי ואסתר פידלר, שלמדו את רזי ההסעדה בירושלים ובתל-אביב. ותיקי המושבה מספרים, שבקפה פידלר בילו בדרך כלל בני האיכרים והסוחרים, בשעה שבקיוסק הסמוך של מושיקו נהנו הפועלים והעגלונים.
עם התרחבות פעילותו של בית הקפה, נוספה בחזיתו מעין מרפסת שפנתה אל הרחוב. בתקופת המרד הערבי (1936-1939) הפך הרחוב שבו פעל בית הקפה לציר המרכזי של התנועה צפונה, וזאת כדי להימנע מחציית הכפרים קלקיליה וטול כרם. בשנים אלה פרח בית הקפה, ולא רק בגלל כוס הקפה המהביל אלא גם בזכות כדורי הגלידה, הגזוז וקו הטלפון, שהיה יקר המציאות במושבה.
בזכות אותו טלפון זרמו הידיעות, השמחות והעצובות כאחד, מבית הקפה אל כל בתי המושבה. באותן שנים אירח בית הקפה אורחים באופן ’גלוי’ ו’סמוי’. באופן גלוי - אלה החיילים הבריטים שנהנו ללגום כוס תה אנגלי ולהיענות לבעל הבית, ששמח למזוג להם כוס בירה או כוסית יין; באופן סמוי - הידיעות שאסף דוד לוונברג מפי החיילים הלומי הבירה והיין והעבירן לממונים עליו מטעם ה’הגנה’.
בבית הקפה נערכו אסיפות, נשפים וחגיגות; ביום כ"ט בנובמבר 1947, כשהוחלט באו"ם על הקמת מדינה יהודית, צהלו כאן ופצחו במחול. כשהניחו את אבן הפינה לבית ברל, הקימו כאן כוסית לחיים. כאן נישאו רבים מצעירי המושבה, וכאן חגגו נערים את בר המצווה.

בראשית שנות החמישים הושכר בית הקפה לבעלים חדשים, אך שמו לא השתנה עם תום תפקודו ככזה.

Fiedler Café
The building, designed in an international style, was build as a coffee house in 1932 by David Levenberg, at the request of his wife Leah. David was the son of one of Baron Rothschild’s clerks, and he lived in Rosh Pina, But David preferred the coast to the hills and settled in the Sharon area. Because of his connections with the residents of the nearby Arab village of Kafr Saba, the British government appointed him as one of three heads of the settlement.
David and Leah didnt manage the café very well and a short time after it opened they rented the place to Zvi and Esther Fiedler, who had learned to be restauranteurs in Jerusalem and in Tel Aviv.
During the Arab uprisings of 1936-1939, the street where the coffee house was located became a major route for northbound traffic, thus avoiding passing through the villages of Kalkilya and Tul Karm. The café blossomed during those years.
In the same years, the café hosted guests "openly" and "covertly". The café hosted meetings, balls and parties; on 29 November 1947, when the United Nations declared the establishment of a Jewish state, the festivities and the dancing were here,
At the beginning of the 1950s, the café was rented to new landlords, but the name remained even after the café was closed.

The fourth station in The Founders’ Path

Landmarks that indicate stations for the Rishonim (First, Founders) trail in Kfar Saba.
The Founders’ Path indicates historic points in the city, the trail was established in 2009 and initially included 10 stations, later 4 more stations were added.

This station is different from the other stations with the signs painted on the walls of the building where the coffee was, and not as a sign on a pillar as was done at the other stations.
