EXECUTED LIKE THEIR LEVELLER COLLEAGUES AT BURFORDBY FORCESLOYAL TO CROMWELL.
THEY WERE SHOT NEAR THIS PLACE FOR THEIR PART IN THE SECOND MUTINY OF THE OXFORD GARRISON

A commemorative plaque for two of the Levellers movement - a movement that operated during the English Civil War and aimed at expanding the democratic rights of citizens. The movement was named after John Lilburne.

Biggs and Piggen affiliation with the Levellers were executed at this location because of their participation in the second mutiny of the Oxford Garrison
