Symbol and branding of the city of Hod Hasharon The first hut in Magdiel
During the Sukkot holiday, October 24, 1924, 12 families founded the Magdiel colony. Mindel and Chaim Colton purchased a hut from the British in a military camp in Tulkarm, the hut was abandoned property during the Turkish rule in the country
The parents lived in the hut with their five children and he was alive. Committee meetings, the first Seder night, the first wedding and more were held there. For the family’s livelihood one of the rooms was rented and the hut became the first "hotel", the main room became the first workers’ restaurant "the dining house".
The outer shell of the hut is made of wood, on which tulle tar paper is glued, to prevent water penetration. The inner walls are made of wooden boards and between them pebbles brought from the Hadas and Kana streams, all of which are connected together with clay-hamra soil and water. Plaster and paint were applied to the wall. This is how the wall was used to insulate the house. This method of construction is called the "Baghdadi Wall".
