שבתאי לוז’ינסקי
הספינה הצליחה לפרוץ את ההסגר של הצי המלכותי הבריטי ונחתה בחוף ניצנים. הפלמ"ח עורר את תושבי הסביבה לבוא ולאסוף את המעפילים לבתיהם, כמחצית מהמעפילים חמקו ליישובי הסביבה. בינתיים הגיע כוח גדול של משטרה בריטית ועצר את כל הנוכחים בחוף, עולים ואנשי הארץ כאחד. הפלמ"ח נתן הוראה לנוכחים בחוף להשמיד את כל תעודות הזהות ולהזדהות בעת מעצר בצורה אחידה: "אני יהודי מארץ-ישראל". הבריטים המבולבלים עצרו את כולם והובילו כמה מאות מהם באניות גירוש לקפריסין. כעבור כשבועיים הוחזרו אנשי הארץ. איתם חזרו מעפילים שהצליחו להחזות לארץ-ישראלים ותיקים.

Shabtai Luzinski
The ship managed to break through the blockade of the British Royal Navy, and landed at Nitzanim beach. The Palmach encouraged the residents of the nearby area to come and take the Ma’apilim (illegal immigrants) to their homes. Half of the immigrants slipped away to the surrounding areas. Meanwhile, a large British police force arrested the people they found on the beach, both immigrants and locals. The Palmach instructed everyone to destroy their IDs and to identify themselves the same way during the arrest, saying "I am a Jew from the Land of Israel". The confused British police arrested everybody and deported several hundreds to Cyprus. After about two weeks, the local residents, as well as those illegal immigrants who pretended to be residents of the Land of Israel, were brought back.
