גבעת הקיבוצים 1945-1948
אתר לאומי
מפעל מחתרתי של ה"ההגנה" לייצור תחמושת, שפעל לפני קום המדינה.
משנת 1932 שימשה הגבעה כבסיס להכשרות שהמתינו לעלייתן להתיישבות. חברי ההכשרות הקימו את הקיבוצים: מעלה החמישה, ניר עם, עין השופט, רמת השופט, עין דור,חצור, תל יצחק, מעגן מיכאל.
קבוצת הצופים א’, ששההתה במקום, הקימה פה קיבוץ, שהיה ’כיסוי’ לעבודה שנעשתה בהיחבא, מתחת לפני הקרקע. מתחת למאפייה ולמכבסה, בעומק של 8 מ’ ולאורך של 33 מ’, פעל "מכון איילון", שהיה המפעל הגדול והמשוכלל של התעשייה הצבאית במחתרת. התחמושת שיוצרה בו, תרמה תרומה מכרעת לכוח עמידתנו במלחמת העצמאות (במיוחד בשלביה הראשונים).
לאחר מלחמת העצמאות, הועבר המפעל לתעשייה הצבאית, וקבוצת הצופים הקימה את קיבוץ מעגן מיכאל.
שנת 1987 שוקם האתר והוכשר כמוזיאון.

Ayalon Institute
Kibbutzim Hill 1945-1948
National Heritage Site
A clandestine "Hagana" munitions factory operated at the site before the establishment of the State of Israel.
Starting in 1932, Kibbutzim Hill was used as an agricultural training base. The trainees subsequently established the following kibbutzim Maraleh HaHamisha, Nir Am, Ein Hashofet, Ramat HaShofet, Ein Dor, Hatzor, Tel Yitzhak, and Ma’agan Michael.
The "A" Scout Group established a kibbutz at the site that was a cover for secret work conducted underground, eight meters beneath the bakery and the laundry. The 33-meter long Ayalon Institute was the largest and most sophisticated underground factory operated by the military industries. The ammunition manufactured here made a critical contribution to Israel’s military endurance during the War of Independence, particularly in its early stages.
After the war, the factory was moved to the Israel Military Industries and the Hatzofim group established Kibbutz Ma’agan Michael.
The site was restored in 1987 and converted into a museum.
It was restored and is operated by The Council for Conservation of Heritage Sites in Israel cooperation with Ministry of Culture and Sport

The sign shape is square but its head is designed according to the silhouette of the old building of the Gymnasia Herzliya, which serves as a logo of the Council for the Preservation of Heritage Sites in Israel
