כימאי פיזיקלי הונגרי ממוצא יהודי, שנודע בזכות תרומתו לפיתוח שיטת הסימנים, בה סמנים רדיואקטיבים משמשים לחקר תהליכים כימיים כמו מטבוליזים של בעלי חיים. על תרומתו זו זכה בפרס נובל לכימיה לשנת 1943.
