THE SECRET WEAPONS CACHE (SLIQ) AT THE AVIDOV FARM AT NAHALAL
The Sliq at Nahalal was one of the central underground weapons caches of the "Hagana“ during the British Mandate period. It was secretly dug and built by manual labor in 1943 under the camouflage of a cesspit for collecting cow urine from the nearby cowshed. The Sliq operated during the years 1943-1947. It was five meters deep and a total of 25 square meters. During "Black Sabbath" on June 29 1946 the entrance of the Sliq was sealed for fear of its discovery bý the British.
After the outbreak of the War of Independence, the Sliq was reopened and its contents were shipped to the combat forces.
