In this house lived one of the fathers of communism, who together with Karl Marx wrote the "Communist Manifesto", the document that outlined the path of the communist movement.
Engels, born in Prussia (Germany), has lived in England several times. The last time he moved to London was in 1870 and he lived in this house until a year before his death.
