Jean Moulin was a fighter in the French resistance movement who worked to establish contact between the resistance forces in France, and the "Free France" of Charles de Gaulle who was in London. Known for his stubborn resistance to the Nazi forces, despite arrests and torture. In the last two months of his life, he served as president of the National Council of Resistance, until July 1943, when he was executed by the Gestapo.
