ביולוג יהודי אמריקאי, שזכה בפרס נובל לפיזיולוגיה או לרפואה לשנת 2006 בגין תגלית מ-1998, הקרויה RNAI - ’הפרעה על ידי RNA’, הכוונה למצב בו ה- RNA אשר בדרך כלל תפקידו להעביר אינפורמציה גנטית מהגנים, דהיינו מה-DNA, לחלבונים, מבצע פעולה הפוכה - עוצר את פעילותם של הגנים, ומונע את יצירת החלבונים על ידם.

JEWISH AMERICAN BIOLOGIST, WHO WON THE NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSIOLOGY OR MEDICINE IN 2006 FOR THE DISCOVERY IN 1998, CALLED RNAI -"BY RNA INTERFERENCE" REFERS TO A SITUATION WHERE THE RNA WHICH NORMALLY FUNCTION TO TRANSFER GENETIC INFORMATION OF THE GENES, IE DNA PROTEINS, THE REVERSE-STOPS THE ACTTIVITY OF GENES AND PREVENTS THE CREATION OF PROTEINS BY THEM.
